When the late, great John White, MS made my Persian in 2011 he used a flat grind and like all of John's work it came out great.
I only have one 3" double bit hatchet, made from cast D2 with a Curly Maple handle.
It was made by my buddy, Dan Warren, MS from Canton, NC.

I believe that the ABS judges tell the Mastersmith candidate the basis of their decisions, but I could be mistaken. The standards are very strict...
