Scale is subjective; that is why I document mine as (1) Blade flops in the wind, and (10) Blade is welded shut ;)

Some have been 8's; some 7.5's - but we don't do halves and since they are not as stout as the 8's, they have to be 7's. My thumbnail wouldn't stand a 9 and I have not handled one that I was concerned about ripping a nail. But if my 7 is your 9 - I completely understand :D

Spend some time thumb wrestling with yourself and spread some superglue on your thumbnails every night before bed - you will get there

yes. that is a fine idea. and correct, your 7 has always been my 9 - for as many years as we have had this same discussion. edit; for as long as this subject has been discussed on BF in recent years...

What makes the #23 have a stronger pull, compared to say a #21?

I understand there are many things that affect the pull -

    blade geometry and tang geometry

    blade and spring thickness

    spring shape

    heat treat

pull or no pull and location

    nail nick location and shape

I imagine each batch of blades and springs is different and there is probably some luck and some trial and error for each batch.

I bet there are even more factors, just unknown to me.

Wrap an old t-shirt around the blade. Work that joint back and forth until your liking. You need the work that knife and it should loosen up. Every new folder needs to be broken in. Safe Queens do not apply.

I'm a big fan of the single blade 23's and this is my very first two blade version. I'm really liking it so far to be honest

I got my shipping confirmation on my brazilian cherry LL, it shipped tomorrow. I jut hope it doesn't take all week to go 130 miles. Makes me wish I still had family in Pauls Valley so I could get it sooner.

Paul's Valley is where my wife was born. She still has relatives in Perkins. Yep.... I married an Okie....
Actually, she grew up in Texas... that's just where she was born.
To keep it "thread appropriate".... I'm waiting to hear about delivery on my micarta LL from Mike. I was on the "reserve if someone doesn't buy their reserve" list for a cherry LL.... keeping my fingers crossed.

    How’s the liner lock?

It is beautiful knife.... It fits the hand better than the 2 blade versions..... The liner lock is easy to disengage..... The blade pull/push is stiff so it requires a moment of thought to hold the knife correctly when closing.... I am an old man with arthritic hands..... So if I can actuate it without lopping a finger off, anyone should be able to....

Wrap an old T-shirt around the blade and work the blade back in forth. All new knives are stiff and need to be broken in.
