I would have to agree with this. Being that a nice rich red is one of my favorites as well, I share the same trepidation - though, in my case, I have none secured so my risk is lessened. One of the reasons that the last run of 85s disappointed me was that the "blood red" jigged bone looked more like a strawberry.

I suspect that this Cherry Smooth Natural Bone is going to end up looking a lot like the Blue Teal Natural Bone that they used on the #19s - just red instead of teal.

Fit and finish is typical GEC for the past 5+ years.....pretty freaking great. Blades are centered. Back springs are perfect. Spring termination is very, very good. Cover to bolster transitions aren't perfect, but very good. Shield inlay is not perfect, but very good. Walk and talk is good, but the knife is so new it might improve with time.

As for the cap lifter.....I don't know whether it works any better than the BF85 because I don't have any bottled drinks in my home right now. But when I compare it to the BF85, it sure doesn't look like much has changed, at least not to my eyes.

Here it is next to a Beer Scout's caplifter (I see noticeable differences).

I guess the proof will be in the pudding. I'll try to buy a couple beverages later tonight.:thumbsup:

Now that I look closer, it does look like the back of the cap lifter's throat has a different profile.

This was my thought also when I saw the production pictures. Has potential, but I’m sure the majority will have the color buffed out along the edges. Not my favorite look.

I knew the shape reminded me of something... my current EDC. The 85s look great so far. Unfortunately it appears I missed out today.

Try imgbox.com @Ricardo Carrion. Quite easy to use and is accepted in this forum.
To upload a picture here you gotta click on the small image in the top-bar that shows a moon/sun and a mountain and then insert the link to the photo you want to show.

The caplifter on that blade forum’s 85 is not the stock one it was filed to be usable. The stock ones were basically a circle cut out with nothing to grab and hold the cap to pull it up. It does look like the new 85 is an improvement on that though.

I think the risk here is 0.0 - these knives will be some of the most sought after knives of the year IMO. You can easily get your money back for it if it is not the color you prefer. Roll the dice
