They look like deer, but I can't tell what kind on the small screen of my phone.
Sorry about that. I am zoomed in and the pic is blurry.
These are Axis deer.
doesn't actually change my answer - except I'd use T-111 panel on the sides instead of steel for an in-town smoke shack.
would be pretty easy to upscale it a bit as well.
Got blessed with some meat for the family this morning.
if you ever decide you have too much antler, drop me a PM -- I bet it'd make awesome knife/sword handles.
I’ve honestly never even thought about that!
I’ll sift through what I got and see what might work.
Anything in particular you looking for? Size, characteristics, location on antler, etc.?
Pretty awesome how if you hit “New Posts”, the first thing you see is a thread on abortion in the political arena here on BF.
Antler handles on knives are cool as coonskin caps. The nephew was saying they have a coon living in their backyard tree. I told him to break out that Mauser. >< Wouldn't be much left that way.
no clue, since I've only ever worked with whitetail, elk, and sambar.
from 1-1.5" diameter, I can use rounds for handles on full size knives.
under 1" should work for bolsters or handles on smaller knives, neckers, and ferro rods
over 1.5" I should be able to slab.
Relaxing a bit, then heading out. Looks like Thursday will be the only "bad" day weather wise.
Have fun. Take pictures!
Thanks man, will do. Not expecting to do much really. Hoping to sit by a fire at the very least. I'm taking my insulated coat and bibs. Taking whiskey too, you know, just to keep warm and all.
Hope you have a great trip and Happy Anniversary!
So, can I touch my tongue to a Becker blade in winter?
Rain, rain, go away... Freezing rain at that.
More reason for a nice ambiance fire, heavy quilt, and a bottle of Makers
As long as it’s not a tweener
We sat out in the freezing rain last night, and I gut drunk, haha. Buffalo Trace, not MM.
Not enough fire nights this winter but at least tonight is one.
