Beer Barrel Materials Source?

    Hi guys!

I've had my eye on a few of the beer barrel Bökers and was wondering if anyone had any information about their source of reclaimed wood? If the barrels were all from a single brewery that could be named, or if there's some kind of specialist company that collects the wood and re-purposes / re-sells it (even for uses other than knife scales)?

These knives represent a convergence of interests for me as I spent a lot of time visiting brewers in Germany when I lived there, and it feels like the knife would be more valuable to me if I could identify more of its history, i.e., "Oh, this one is from Päffgen barrels, had a great time there back in 2005" or Diebels, Füchschen, etc. I imagine there'd be a similar kind of reaction to favorite brands with the whiskey barrel scales.

I would call or email Boker directly and see what they can tell you. This information may not even be available to the public, as sometimes manufacturers don't want competitors knowing where they source material. Few years ago I was trying to get info on where a certain manufacturer was getting their stag and could only be told what country it came from. If you do find something out please share with us and let us know!

I did follow up with Böker and was politely informed that the beer barrels they receive come from a variety of sources and so pinpointing is impossible. :(

Good news for whiskey + knife lovers, though, as the 2017 specials were confirmed to come from Jim Beam and Jack Daniels barrels.
