I’ve had a 3, 4, and 6. Still own the 3, and it was my edc for 3-4 years straight. It’s been used hard and was great for almost anything I needed to cut, and carries very well (I carried it inverted).

The 6 was fine but other inexpensive knives were just as good and more comfortable in hand. I found the 4 to be a bit too thick.

    I EDC carried the RAT3 (D2)- ESEE3 - and the BK14 (KaBar/ESEE collaboration) I liked the BK14 the best out of the 3.
What turns me off is the thick powder coating. I had to strip them all.

The 4 & 6 are .19" like the LS. They are also FF ground vs the saber on the 5. Makes a big difference IMO.

I have the 3 and the 6. They’re all I’ll ever need for outdoors. The three is especially nice with the thinner stock.

My buddy has gotten himself the 3 and he loves it. I'm yet to check it out myself.

It’s just a great all around blade. Small enough to edc yet it can handle 95% of your camping and hunting chores, Now available in s35v, it also makes for a nice outdoor food prep knife.

He's using his as EDC, his only complain was extremley tight sheath retention, but he took care of that with a file.

Exactly. The 5 is a thick chunk that does nothing well, except not break (same as the BK2). The 3, 4, and 6 are excellent.

I guess I never realized the 5 was thicker then everything else. I still love my 5.

The Esee 3HM has been in my pack and helped me bring elk and mule deer from the mountain to the dinner table (think quartering, not merely field dressing) for several years now. Good ergonomics and thin blade stock makes for a great working blade.

    I like the Esse 5PB-002. It’s a tank.
