For sure. The single blade 73s are about perfect but I don't care for the two bladed versions at all.

You are correct about that. The #74 Mustang is almost exactly the same... I think it's 1/8" longer than the #73. Beautifully balanced knives.

I the think GEC should make three different Trapper Northfields and three different Tidioute trappers. 200 each for the two blades and 400 each single blade liner lock trappers. Plus the SFO and club knives. I want to see an Oily Creek bone saw cut , smooth dark blue camel bone , smooth antique goldenrod camel bone , any rich color with wavy rogers style jigged bone , autumn leaf jigged bone , zebra wood , curly bloodwood , desert iron wood , and a rich blue 3 color blue acrylic.

But on what frame? Why 400 two blade and 800 (if I'm counting right?) single blade trappers? I doubt you'll see a liner lock trapper made by GEC.

There are a small amount of GEC#48s still around on GEC dealer web-sights. The GEC#48 is a mini slim trapper.

OKCA is having their small Oregon Winter blade show very soon this month. They will display the proto SFO trapper knife at the show. So we will find out the model number soon. (JUST GUESSING) If it is a new model trapper , GEC will make 6 different knives about 400 to 500 each. If this trapper is an old model trapper, GEC will make 4 different knives about 400 to 500 each. One blade , two blades , liner lock or not , I will being quite a few. I am on list for two different custom blade smiths. If I get disgusted with GEC , I know where to buy a great knife.

That's good to know. I never paid any attention to them. I would have to think long and hard before I bought one.

The TC is 3 1/2", the #73 is 3 3/4 and the #23 is 4 1/2"!! All are single blade with half stops.

I still hope for a single blade model 73. I would prefer a non-locking blade but each to his or her own.
I would love to have stag but I am very fond of various wooden cover.

For the outdoors I like a heavier bigger knife. The 23 looks pretty good.

I'm voting in the opposite direction. I'd like a smaller slimmer trapper maybe 3.5"-3.75"

3 3/4" to 4 1/2" closed single blade liner-lock or bull lock is really cool with me. Saving up and watching my bones. I already went fool on the #86 Oil Field jack "cooter shell" acrylic knife pre-order and a CASE XX Trapper-lock kickstart Antique barnboard bone knife. Looks like the CASE XX knife is a pre-order too. The dealers and knife producers are busy this year.

I will take both the 23 and 73. Even better make them lock blades.
