A matched pair for a Clint of David’s from David I forged three different blades, to get these two that really matched up pretty close. The steel is W2. Blade length is about 13 3/4” OAL is 26” 9” Tsuka is carbon fiber over Alaska yellow cedar. Carbon fiber ito. Copper habaki and seppa, wrought iron tsuba. Saya is carbon fiber over Alaska yellow cedar. Ancient walrus ivory kojiri and kashira. These are wrapped non traditionally as there is a right and left hand sword. This can be seen in the location of menuki, and the kurigata on the saya. the weight is 1 pound 13 ounces and the other is 1 pound 13.5 ounces they are as close as can be possible
I got to see these bad boys before they were finished. Light, thin, extremely sharp, and the photos don't do them justice. Another thing: David's handles are really nice. Big and fat, perfect grip. As M. Gregory said, endlessly inspiring.
David has really reached a very impressive level with his swords remember this is the guy that also won his episode of forged in fire with a crusader sword in my preferred genre of swords which lends itself to the Japanese style his take on the blades is imho exceptional like I said these are not mine but I did just commission a very exciting piece from David ....... this might be my last sword commission so it’s gonna be something very special ......... much more to come
