Just finished this one for acustomer. As stated, it is my second pipe, witht he head forgedfrom 1 1/2 O1 drill rod. OAL on the head is around 8', and about 20"on the haft. Cutting edge is 3", and the head has been carved, textured, and heavily aged.Haft is curly maple, and features a hammered copper band and ornament, copper tacks, rawhide wraps and a stag mouth piece and cleanout stopper.Cap is deep etch wagon wheel wrought with a copper underlay, and the headcover is rawhide over veg-tan. For all that thought I ahd forgot how to forge a drifted eye hawk, here's proof I still can:D

That IS nice John. I like it very much. The texturing looks great as does the stag mouthpiece and cleanout plug.

Another of your great work and it looks extra beautiful with the texture finish

IMHO it should be just 8" on the head .. and I know it's just a typo, John :D

John- Nice!!! I really like it. I have a major Hawk addiction. Both my Dad and Uncle were into Hawks in the 70's. I grew up throwing Hawks in the back yard. Pipe Hawks are among my favorite.... Great Job....

One of the nicest I have seen.
Love your selection and artistic utilization of materials.

Do you test, or smoke them before sending them out? ;) :)
