I draw inspiration from the art deco and art nouveau periods. The sculpted jewelry and bronze castings done during the era amaze me.

The knife and sheath pictured below, I realize are gaudy by today's standards; but they were inspired by art from another time period.

These days my design interest is not focused on the contemporary; its more about experimentation and "going where no man has gone before":)

The sculpted bauble is by Ann Murrell a local craftswoman.

The knife in the sheath measures 17 inches tip to tip.

    Tell me what you think.

    Regards, Fred

Fred, that's really beautiful and inspiring. I love that sheath. It's SO elegant. Art Deco and Art Nouveau are some of my favorite styles of decorative art, I had a coffe table book on the work of Edgar Brandt (french Art Deco blacksmith) that was mind blowing and I've always wanted to try something in that style.

I guess I haven't yet, because I don't think I have the chops to pull it off. It sure looks like you do.

Gaudy is not a word that would ever have occurred to me to describe that knife and sheath. I believe Salem hit the proverbial nail on the head...elegant!

I agree, not gaudy at all. Though I'm not crazy about the guard
design I like the overall knife and sheath package very much.

And yes, elegance describes it well.

Is the pin face different from side to side?
