I get it, but saving the edge on my work knives isn’t a concern at all. I’m cutting whatever I have to and I’ll hit a nail, screw, pipe, etc along the way and that will damage the edge way more than reaming copper or aluminum pipe would.
Everyone has their own approach, and no knock on any of it, but just as I’ll use a pair of lineman’s or channellocks to hammer something on the fly, I’ll use a knife to ream or even pry if I have to.
Again, to each their own and as long as we’re using knives, it’s about having fun!
And on that note, let’s put these knives to work!
Stripped a bunch of romex, opened packages, light prying, stripped some bell wire, sharpened a pencil
Unless it’s planned and I bring a hammer with me, my lineman are my hammer 75 percent of the time haha. I drove a handful of 16’s today so I grabbed my hammer. Anytime anyone ask if I’ve got a hammer my first response is I’ve got some lineman in my pocket
Batoned through some 4/0 aluminum cable.
Stripped some snowy cables and cut some tape. Was a balmy 29 degrees today so had to get out and enjoy the weather.
Cutting up some WonderBoard and Sheetrock yesterday...
And at the end of the day still looking awesome!
Stripping romex, cutting tape, sharpening pencil, opening packages and blister packs
I used my Vic Climber to open this...
That edge is getting a workout today...may have to hit the sharpener after this nanner...
The sharp tip of the Leek helped break the seal on a jar of giardiniera.
Trimmed some blind cords
Freed a frozen pizza from it's shrink wrap
Cut apart some ribs
Pared a pear
Shaved some chocolate to melt in my coffee.
Not much call for knife stuff now that I retired. I did open the mail and a blister pack today.
Besides the regular work stuff for the last month or so...
... I also opened few packages, last one worth mentioning...
