Wow, Camillus you seem to have an extremely negative opinion on Svord which is ringing out loud and clear - yet the majority Worldwide of feedback begs to differ, you will have people who don't like, and who do- depending on value for money - pricing in the US market or NZ Market? where are you getting your $ value from? Is the maker to blame for other Countries taxes and middle men mark ups to finally come up with the overseas price?

A lot of the basic crap that you basically are saying, you can buy here for around $45 US - the basic wooden Handled Skinner- Throat Cutter type that a simple google search for these knives for sale in NZ, then do your conversion into exchange rate - there you have the price what you get them for here, and what I would consider the true value - anything dearer? Thats not the makers fault.

    One example

Obviously a man of your talents are wasted and you could have saved thousands of people their money?
There's all these hundreds + of real end users enjoying the knife who unfortunately missed out on your wisdom, and are so thick on the end user Knife skill sets that you have, we need you to come down here and tell the Hunters and Farmers this because you have far more experience than them it seems?

Your last post is pretty darned negative and seem to group a HUGE amount of people into being sucked into everything under this extremely negative Umbrealla of yours " Svord wants you to believe that their poor workmanship..." "perverse pride of Flaws" , "Pricing that's so plainly wrong" "Supposed superior Steel", "romantic story they are buying into .... so therefore believe it"
"To describe a flawed knife (either in design or in production) as a ‘working knife’ or a ‘no nonsense’ knife does nothing to rectify that"

.... geez when does it stop?

I for one simply do not want to see your bias posts on what you think about their cheap knives - made to be cheap ( $20 US), do we have to sit through another hate session?
You think you can - so please show us and go out and do better yourself, then I will sit up and listen to what you have to say, until then you are coming across as just a negative guy who seems to know a lot better than a massive bunch of people Worldwide.

My opinion on the Company- they wont make the Worlds best Knife- because they don't try to price them to be so, or to be so.
The simple fact that you so passionately hate and cant seem to accept is an extremely popular and successful company and I don't hold them up on a Pillar by any means, my thoughts are in post 15 about this company which I think is a very true and honest opinion, yours on the other hand looks like its spiraled out of control with one hell of a lot of passion that you should look at becoming a Writer maybe?

Well, each to their own. I believe my thoughts are supported by other user reviews, and by my own experiences with the brand. I am allowed to hold that opinion, even it is not the same as yours.

Have you or do you own and have used a svord or is your opinion based on what you have seen and read from others experience?

O geez who got out the threaderector spray?
What is definitely needed here is a review of the exact same Svord knife...knives....that way we hopefully get an objective conclusion. ....otherwise it sounds a lot like " one man operation goes commercial and quality suffers as a result"...

Judging by the look of that wooden handle..
You could easily shape it to your personal need/shape...lets call it the Svord building block.

For the record I've known Bryan Baker since he was just a relatively unknown NZ custom knifemaker. And I've used his knives off and on every since that time. I have no complaints about the quality or the price.

The edge grind (short concave) is obsolete. Modern knives are favoring full convex or full flat grind.
The cross guard looks uncomfortable and cheap. Modern methods and grinders have produced much better shapes.
The handle is something I made in my garage. Where is the value?
Is the cross guard soldered to the blade? How sturdy is it? Will it come loose?
Are the handle slabs epoxied to the tang?
The blade thickness could be 5mm or up to 7.5mm. Is there any quality control?

Hi I have owned and used the Von Tempsky Bowie for about 7 years. I have cut down the cross guard which improves the balance if you like throwing knives at things. It's a great tool that can take a lot of abuse.
It's a bit heavy for the backpack other than that it is what it is.
    Highly Recommend it.
