    Nathan,

with the understanding that the DEK1 can process Wood (not primary design purposes) how does the AEBL compare to your 3V in that regards. Also, I haven’t had any rust spots on my 3V how much more rust resistant is the AEBL?

AEBL is like a simple carbon steel which many wood workers prefer because they can get it screaming sharp easily and it can stabilize an edge at very narrow sharpening angles. But I would choose D3V because wood is often abrasive and I don't want to have to fool with sharpening my knife during a project and the wear resistance of 3V and the edge stability of our 3V makes a better choice for me.

There is some disagreement out there in the innerwebs about the toughness of AEBL with some claiming it is very tough. It is relatively tough. It is nowhere near Delta 3V. You will never break a Delta 3V knife in anything remotely resembling normal use including moderate prying or whacking it with a wooden baton. The same is not always true for AEBL. It is tough but your margin for error is less with AEBL.

Nathan, I don't see the coloring effect (gold, rose and that very rare quartz blue) due to heat treat process in your maker's mark and stamps any more. What has changed?

We leave it in there if it's nice and clean and looks good but we strip it chemically during the tumble if it's splotchy or uneven.

Black and Green Linen and Red and Green Linen will be options. I will have him add those. We have a few sets of Rag, but when they are gone, we don't plan to buy more. Thanks!

I was thinking about using the DEK knife for food prep in the kitchen. Which would be better AEBL or D3V or no difference? Also no penetrator tip option on the preorder?

Sorry if this has already been answered somewhere:

How long do you anticipate making the DEK1 in D3V for the Friday sales?
I’d love to get on the preorder since this has been one of my most eagerly anticipated models, but the pandemic hasn’t been kind to our little family and $$ are a little tight right now...

Hi buddy. The sales are getting pretty tight for a D3V one. If you would like me to float one in the preorder for a bit let me know.

ETA: just read through the preorder thread, and it does appear there will be some in the future sales #notnathan

If it's in the kitchen it will be getting wet alot. Me personally I'd get AEB-L. I believe the potatoe annihilator was also made in AEB-L. I've been using it in and around the lake the past few days and have no worries about getting it wet. I've never really had any issue with CPKs delta 3v or even d2 here. But I always give em a good rinse and dry when I'm done. Matter of fact... Just did it this morning :D

Real test is when I get to bring it Surfside flukeing soon. Near the ocean is the only place I hesitate to bring my CPKs probably overthinking it but with this one I have no worries or reservations it'll do well there too.

Thanks buddy! Super generous of you, as always.
I’m hoping things will improve and that I can eventually snag one the traditional way.
Thanks again, though. Really appreciate the offer :thumbsup:

    Excellent news.

Nathan and Dave: both of your posts left me with a big stupid grin on my face and the world looking like a much brighter place.
    Thanks!

Nathan, would it bother you much if I officially changed my BF.Com name to my most favorite ID: #stillnotnathan?
