    Yeah, people do all kinds of crazy stuff. But its extremely unusual and unless you go to something like Blade show most folks will never see geometry like this. But yes, there are hand makers who do stuff like feathering hollow grinds. Loveless was lovely.

    Thanks. I know it's a desirable geometry, but I think I'd be too afraid to mess it up. I'd rather do a decent grind without it than try it and make a mess. Who knows, maybe I'll try it on a scrap of mild steel...

    one cool thing I like is a flat ground bevel transitioning to a convex plane at the tip. You can do that with files super accurately

    Nathan, how close is this to being an accurate depiction of a DEK1 with a swedge?

    Nathan, that was in reference to TeroTuf.

    What grit sandpaper would you recommend? Any particular way you suggest to roughen them up?

    Will the satin grind on the DEK1 be horizontal or vertical?

    @Nathan the Machinist ,

    Would it be ok to soak a knife with Terotuf grips in warm water with Dawn dish soap to clean the grips, or would this possibly loosen the adhesive that holds the Terotuf to the micarta base?

    I did this with another brand's knife with smooth canvas micarta grips, and I scrubbed the grips gently with a toothbrush after soaking, and the clean grips felt much better!

    I've never soaked them but I have used a tooth brush and scrubbed TT scales to clean them up with no ill affects.

    Yeah, for an extra 25 cents, I think I'll spring for the longer blade option.

    I don't know? What does their price work out to when you adjust for inflation?

    $2 = $33.

    Nope. Can't touch that...
