I haven't looked at the SS model since the addition of 4 way clip holes. I didn't realize it had changed from hollow to flat saber grind. Learn something new every day.

Well, nothing wrong with performance, but yes, the look is what I'm after. I asked for linerless just because I have plenty of heavy knives and fewer light ones. Given my druthers, I'll take light over heavy.

Steel I'm pretty open on, but I really like K390. Not sure if that will fly with anyone else since it isn't stainless. Even VG-10 works for me. I'd love to see a blue G-10 a couple of shades darker than the FRCP on the S110V Manix lightweight, but I wouldn't want you to get stuck with a five-year supply.

To Protect and Serve seems to be popular on police cars, even though I've always thought it should be "To Investigate and Apprehend".

I'd love to see a blue line G10. Blue line through black G-10 scale.
Spyderco has always been first responder centryc.

I am ecstatic over the serrated K390 on the P4. I think this is a much more useful design than the original Police model.

Id say "Protect and serve" would be an appropriate engraving. I think some form of this phrase is part of many police departments that Ive seen, if not it is easily recognizable and associated with police. I believe it is a phrase that provokes integrity and responsibility. I also believe the phrase would serve as a double meaning, in that the knife itself is designed to protect and serve, protection not only in a physical sense but also in that it is designed for hard use which can save lives.

5x5 you are a prick. I know that conversations on the internet can lack tact. But, you take the cake. Whether here, or on the Spyderco Forums, you have nothing but negativity spewing forth from your accounts, constantly.
I feel sorry for the people that have to come across you in their daily lives. I hope someday you can find some form of happiness in your life. But, until then, this place would be much better off without you.

Pardon my less than shiny response. Just tired of that guy and his attitude.

Now, back on topic. I love the idea of a Blue Lives Matter engraving on this knife. I would gladly carry that as an EDC and truly respect Sal and the Spydercrew for their commitment to loyalty and honor.
SE would just make it better. >:)

One of the reasons Spyderco is such an amazing company with such amazing knives is that they are designed "in the dark." I know that's a statement on ergonomics over aesthetics, but I think its a great statement on inclusion as well. Spyderco makes knives for everyone to use and enjoy and their looks spark intrigue. I want to carry a knife that everyone can look at and ask "can I give that a try" rather than one that will get me nods of approval from some and sneers of disgust from others. One man's thin blue line is the yoke of another man's oppression.

Would I be interested in a sprint run of the OG police model? Yes. Would I like it more in a full flat grind with the original thin height? Definitely. Would G10 be better than stainless steel handles? Absolutely? Would I want it to say blue lives matter? Hell no. I have no problem with supporting police, law enforcement, first responders (lapsed EMT here), and military. I do have a problem supporting them to the exclusion of others and ignoring legitimate issues of accountability. Getting any more political and this post will have to be moved to the cesspool that is Current Events and I try really hard to avoid that place, so I'll end my rant here.

"To Protect & Serve" does seem more "on point" and less likely to get negative responses.

I'm more of a Manix guy and I have a lot of Spydies... but I've never bought a Police. Don't normally look at the ones with stainless handles. A rounded and contoured G10 would feel good in the hand. And I agree, if I'm going to buy one... it would be partly for the nostalgic look so an original blade style would be nice. I've always liked Spyderco Seki VG-10 but I know we all want something exotic now... I would probably be interested in anything that isn't S30v. In a fully serrated version... wouldn't one of those SALT steels make sense?

I apologize to everyone. I say really stupid things sometimes, and no one deserves it.

    I'm sorry.

You're not alone. (Don't ask me how I know.)

Stepping up, though, is man's work.

I am very interested in any type of "old school" Police model!

Me and the Police go back like car seats. :D

The Spyderco forum tries very hard to create family like harmony in our conversations. Pobody's Nerfecr. Humility is powerful.

I need more on steel and handle materials.

The steel selected isn't overly important to me. I've been happy enough with VG10.

I was never really interested in the original's stainless scales, so didn't get one. I did recently get a Lightweight and have been very happy with it. I've been amazed with how well FRN has held up after many years of EDC. My vote would be for G-10.

Stainless with engraved texture for traction and aesthetics.

Blade material I would be open to.

    My favorites in order:
    CPM-M4
    CPM-3V
    ZDP-189
    K390
    CTS-XHP

What can the maker handle? S110V is nice for stainless, but it's American steel and can't be easy to work. Supergold didn't work out last time, but I'd still like to try it out if it can be had.

I’ve always loved the look of the original police blade but for whatever reason never got around to getting one, I think regardless of the current political landscape this is gonna be an awesome knife

I believe the steel type should be stainless of some type as i dont want the message or knife itself to become dull or tarnished (like from a patina). I like the idea of a super steel like m390 though even the hap40/sus would be good as its clad steel and resistant to staining.

You do a great job of it. I wouldn't have said anything if I thought nobody would hear me. Now with that out of the way:

Not sure if there's a better option than G10 even though Japanese G10 is expensive. If so do it. If not, blue G10. As for steel, this is being produced in Japan so what could be better than HAP40? Or kick it really old school and bring back some ATS-34!
